Tim Wakefield Visits Maine, Plays at Benefit Concert
WLBZ
November 5, 2004

Fresh off a World Series championship, ace knuckleballer Tim Wakefield travelled to Maine to brighten the day for children battling cancer.

Wakefield spent time with some kids who are a part of the Maine Children's Cancer program.

He came up at the request of his friend, musician Cindy Bullens.

Bullen's daughter Jesse lost her battle with hodgkins disease when she was just eleven years old.

The Jesse BC Fund was set up in her memory.

Wakefield says he's fortunate to have the life he has. He feels an obligation to help out whenever he can.

When he's not pitching for the Red Sox Wakefield dabbles with the guitar. Friday night he played in a special concert with Cindy Bullens in a benefit for the Jesse BC Fund.
