| The Red Sox will try to ensure at least a split of this four-game series against the Tigers on Wednesday night when veteran knuckleballer Tim Wakefield makes his sixth start of the season. Wakefield suffered a 7-2 loss to the Tigers in his last start. His last start at Comerica Park was probably the biggest roller coaster afternoon of his career. In that outing, which took place Aug. 8, 2004, Wakefield tied a Major League record by allowing six homers. However, he also picked up the win in an 11-9 Boston victory. He hopes to make this one a little less adventurous. In his career against the Tigers, Wakefield is 11-8 with a 4.39 ERA. For the second night in a row, the Sox will face a left-handed starter. After beating Mike Maroth, the Sox go up against Nate Robertson. |
